Scaling new heights in Seoul, South Korea will be GDS Architect’s new super-tall skyscraper that you may or may not see. Tower Infinity will stand tall at 450 meters, placing it among the top 10 tallest buildings in the world. A unique feature of the tower is its ability to disappear as it pleases, thanks to optical illusions and lighting making it a less obtrusive anti-tower. The crystalline tower is a sort of anti-tower that blends into the sky and seems to disappear with the help of optical illusions, and lighting. Tower Infinity will be located at the heart of the Yongsan International Business District, whose master plan was originally designed by Samoo. GDS Architects won the competition to design the tower back in 2004 and just this summer they were granted permission to begin construction. When complete, the tower will largely be used for entertainment purposes. It will feature observation decks, wedding venues, a theater, a roller coaster, restaurants, a water park, and a variety of landscaped gardens in the surrounding area. According to GDS Architect, instead of symbolizing prominence as yet another ‘world’s tallest and best’ towers, the tower looks to celebrate the global community. Tower Infinity demonstrates Korea’s rising position in the world by establishing a powerful presence by diminishing its presence to the naked eye. [Via - Inhabitat
